What is Hope House?

Hope House is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1990 by churches of Franklin County to meet the crisis or emergency needs in the community. Hope House does not attempt to duplicate the ministries of member churches. Hope House provides help that many other churches lack resources to undertake.

Who Runs Hope House?

Hope House has a dedicated board of directors that oversees the operations and financial management of the organization. Co-Directors, the Director of Services and Programs and the Director of Communications and Business, are in charge of the day-to-day operations and are the only paid positions of the not-for-profit agency.

HOPE HOUSE SERVICES

Hope House works closely with other county and city agencies to provide a full range of services. We provide services without discrimination. Hope House adheres to guidelines designed to offer support and discourage dependence. We DO NOT provide assistance for: Diapers (referred to Life Care Center), Pain Medicines or Legal Fines

Forming a Homeless Coalition

Hope House is working in coordination with ECKAN, United Way, Ottawa Ministerial Alliance, and Franklin County Economic Development to form a Homeless Coalition to provide emergency housing/ cold weather stays at 3 local hotels.

All requests and referrals will be run through Michelle Graf, Co Cordinator of Hope House. Michelle will also use her list of clients who may need housing. The criteria is the temperature must be below 20 degrees wind chill.

Hope House has received donations from multiple sources to provide this temporary shelter and has matched $5,000 in funds from our General Fund and the Hope House Nick Gehring fund.

To date this emergency housing fund has housed 31 adults and 8 children for a total of 161 nights. The agencies are working to find long term housing solutions for those who have needed multiple night stays.
